Nishi-Hongan-ji Temple Opening

I went to Nishi-Hongan-ji Temple, the Shin Busshism sect, to see its special opening only in this season. Its main hall is amazingly magnificent! This temple has several events in this year to commemorate the 750’s memorial of the high priest Shinran’s death.
The Shoin style building of Nishi-Hongan-ji has a lot of treasures such like the noh stage constructed by a famous shogun Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the transom windows with the elaborate patterns, the sliding doors paintings etc. I felt the Japanese Buddhism arts are so great!
This is a Chinese style gate called Karamon.

昨日、西本願寺の特別拝観に行きました。
初めて入った書院は、日本の仏教美術に改めて敬意を感じる程素晴らしいものでした。襖絵や欄間はもちろんですが、他の寺院ではあまり見られない、徳川家康も鑑賞したらしい、能舞台はとても厳かな雰囲気で、何かこう、身の引き締まるような光景でした。撮影禁止だったのでここでお見せできないのが残念ですが、今年は親鸞聖人の７５０年遠忌を記念して様々な催しが開かれるようなので、また拝観の機会があることでしょう。
金閣，銀閣と並ぶ日本三大閣の一つである、飛雲閣も見て来ましたが、私は三大閣の中では、この飛雲閣が一番好きかもしれません。いつも見れないのが残念です。昔の素晴らしい建築物を現代の私たちは、畏敬の念を持って眺めていますが、何百年後、昔の建物はすごかったんだなーと現代に造られた建物を未来の人達は思うのでしょうか？例えば、安藤忠雄とか？それを考えると、昔の美意識や技術ってすごかったんだなーと思います。
