Kyoto life Blogs

GTK would like to introduce the real Kyoto life by GTK bloggers. Some of them migrated from their countries
to Kyoto, and want to share how to enjoy the Kyoto life. These blogs are quite useful for visiting Kyoto, and also
for people who hope to live in Japan.

Setsubun days

What did you do yesterday? Did you enjoy a traditional Japanese ritual on February 3rd. ?

That is called “Setsubun”. In olden days, people thought the demons appeared when the season changed. This setubun ceremony is held to drive away the demons and the people’s sins.

The photo above is my son wearing the demon’s mask of which is sold in a supermarket before the setubun day.

It is said the setsubun day is the start of spring. It is so strange.

Today, really chilly..
