Kyoto life Blogs

GTK would like to introduce the real Kyoto life by GTK bloggers. Some of them migrated from their countries
to Kyoto, and want to share how to enjoy the Kyoto life. These blogs are quite useful for visiting Kyoto, and also
for people who hope to live in Japan.

Sanzenin ‘Momiji’ Festival

Momiji-matsuri (colored maple festival) will start at Sanzen-in Temple in Ohara from tomorrow until November 28th.

You can see a beautiful color combination of green moss and red maple in a huge buddhist ground. Its scene can be seen only for about half month.

Access is very simple and just 30 minutes bus-ride from downtown Kyoto. (Kyoto bus no.17 from Kyoto Station or Demachi-yanagi Station)

If you have a time to stay night in Ohara, I’d like to recommend some ryokan.

Take a look at the photo below! looks wonderful! The mountain view from your private outdoor bath would be special sight.

This is one of the room bath of Seryo ryokan, located next to Sanzen-in.

You can enjoy a unique foot bath cafe of Ohara Sanso ryokan on the side of Jyakko-in Temple in Ohara. This is called Ashiyu.

Ohara Sanso has a day plan with onsen spa and local lunch. Their prices are from around ¥1000~. You can enjoy them reasonably.

Hot pots with local vegetables and chicken after bath are so tempting!

Ohara is really nice area where I recommend you for an autumn holidays.
