Full moon viewing events

Japanese people have been attached to the moon, especially the autumn full moon. In ancient time, the nobles enjoyed a party on their boats under the moon, as they played a poem game while drinking sake and eating dumplings. In this season, several moon viewing events are held at some temples, shrines and other places in Kyoto.

Osawa-no-ike Pond of Daikaku-ji Temple on September 10th~12th, 17:00-21:00
Kamigamo Shrine & Shimogamo Shrine, 17:30~on September 12th (At Kamigamo Shrine, sake and dumplings will be given away to the first 300 people to arrive.)
Kyoto Botanical Garden, 18:30~20:30 on September 11th (event to see full moon by astronomical telescope)
