Aoki Shigeru Exhibition – Myth, Sea and Love
Aoki Shigeru (1882-1911) is well known as a painter who expressed the world of myths in his works. He created the works despite difficulties during the 28 years of his life, such as poverty, illness, egoism and therefore some distress.
In this exhibition, about 230 works, including those with motifs, came from “Kojiki”, “Nihonshoki” (the oldest historical book written at the beginning of 8th century) and the Old Testament.
