Arts & Performances

Kyoto is a birth place of traditional arts, crafts and performances of Japan,
and has been maintaining its tradition with the coming of the new age.
Here GTK'd like to introduce the monthly art highlights, museums, creators etc.

Ukiyo-e collection from the MKG Hamburg – the 150th anniversary of Japan-German Treaty-

The Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg has collected about 5,000 wood-block printings since its establishment in 1887. They include the works by Utamaro, Sharaku, Hokusai and other famous ukiyo-e artists.
“Surimono” the prints for a personal gift and some materials such as the pictures for printing, the wood blocks etc. are also being exhibited this time.
This would be a good opportunity to get to know the world of ukiyo-e deeply.
