Arts & Performances

Kyoto is a birth place of traditional arts, crafts and performances of Japan,
and has been maintaining its tradition with the coming of the new age.
Here GTK'd like to introduce the monthly art highlights, museums, creators etc.

El Greco Exhibition

El Greco is said to be one of three great painters in Spain, with Velázquez and Goya. However, Spain is the place where he had stayed on his latter life until his death, 1614. He was born in Crete Island, Greek in 1541. He had started to work as an iconic painter in Greek. And then he moved to Italy and studied the western painting style. When he was 35, he migrated to Toredo, Spain and finally completed his painting style. He was appreciated as a great painter of the modern painting by Picasso, Cezanne and other painters in the 20th century.
His paintings seem to be mixed with the style of Byzantine and Renaissance and created by his strong commitment to Catholic. When we look his portraits, we could see their emotion and some backgrounds. The colors he used in his works were gorgeous and sophisticated. He put the visible items and the invisible on his work. His paintings took us the magnificent imaginary world.

Here are the photos which I took in the museum one day before of the opening day of the exhibition.
