MUNAKATA Shiko Hanga Exhibition
Munakata Shiko (1903-1975) was well-known as the hanga (art print) artist who was from Tohoku and established his original folk style of printing.
This exhibition features his paintings on the furnishing of his friend’s house in Kyoto, such as on sliding doors, on door shelves, on storeroom doors etc.
The images of his works ranged widely from colored landscape to dynamic calligraphic art.
You can see the strong expression of his soul through about 45 works being displayed at this time.
