Kyoto is a birth place of traditional arts, crafts and performances of Japan,
and has been maintaining its tradition with the coming of the new age.
Here GTK'd like to introduce the monthly art highlights, museums, creators etc.

Salvador Dalí

Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) is an artist best known for his works in Spanish surrealism. Dalí’s work included a wide range of unique works that characterized 20th Century Spanish art.
Dalí’s repertoire includes not only paintings, sculptures, jewelry but also film and photography, he worked with a variety of media.
This exhibit is composed of nearly 200 works from Dalí’s three major collections – the Gala – Salvador Dalí Foundation, the Reina Sofia National Art Centre in Spain, and the Salvador Dalí Museum in the United States of America.

Included in the exhibit is the “Atomic and Uranic Melancholic Idyll,” painted in 1945, is an oil on canvas which was created by Dalí after the shock of the atomic bomb being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
