Yuichi TAKAHASHI Exhibition

Every Japanese people may remember the textbook in their school days when they look at the painting with images of salmon above. This famous painting, “Salmon” was painted by Yuichi TAKAHASHI who was representative western-style painter in the Meiji era. Not only he painted, but also he opened a painting school, organized exhibition and published art magazines to spread the western-style painting in Japan. His paintings look original, dynamic and free because he didn’t study abroad. He created his own style as a western-style painting.
In this exhibition, you can enjoy his works from early to the end including “Salmon” and one more famous, “Courtesan”.
- September 7th ~ October 21st, 9:30-17:00, closed on Mondays (if Monday is holiday, next Tuesday is closed.)
