Arts & Performances

Kyoto is a birth place of traditional arts, crafts and performances of Japan,
and has been maintaining its tradition with the coming of the new age.
Here GTK'd like to introduce the monthly art highlights, museums, creators etc.

Shakamuni and Shinran

Ryukoku Museum was established in April in 2011 to introduce Buddhism with a wide perspective from the roots of Buddhism in India to the development of Buddhism in Japan. This exhibition features Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, and priest Shinran who brought Buddhism to the ordinary Japanese people in the 13th century. GTK would also like to recommend that you
see restored images from the Bezeklik Cave Temples, which are speculated to have been painted in the 10th century in Uyghur.

  • Until March 25th, 10:00-17:00, closed on Monday
  • Ryukoku Museum
