Shunga

Shunga is a variety of Ukiyoe woodblock printing from the Edo Era, which expressed humor as well as sexual images. Especially in western countries, since the Japonisme period at the end of 19th century, their artistry has been highly coveted.
This time the exhibition will display a number of shunga created by popular Ukiyoe artists such as Kitagawa Utamaro, Katsushika Hokusai.
You can enjoy a wide range of Ukiyoe, as well as original drawings with images of ordinary people in the Edo Era.
* Under 18 years old is not allowed to see the exhibition.
- February 6th ~ April 10th, 10:00-18:00 (entry by 17:00) ( -20:00 on Fri & Sat after March 18), closed on Mondays (open on March 21)
