Ukiyoe in summer
This exhibition features Ukiyoe -woodblock printings from the Edo period, with images of summer activities on the riverbank.
In Ukiyoe, some people enjoyed meals on the platform built over the river, some people looked over Hanabi -fireworks from the boat.
Beautiful pattern with Japanese flowers or famous Kabuki actors were depicted on their summer kimono, fans and other accessories.
You can enjoy not only the summer scene in the Edo period but also the elaborate Japanese skill on art about two centuries ago.
