Mt.Inari (Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine)
Mt.Inari (Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine)
If the weather is fine though June is a rainy season, GTK recommends to enjoy hiking on easy mountains.
We choose the most popular mountain and shrine in Kyoto.
Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine is located in the Fushimi area, about 20 minute-train-ride from Kyoto Station.
As everyone knows, there are thousands of Shinto red gates on Mt.Inari. After walking around the shrine, please don’t back to the station! The most fun is going up to the summit of Mt.Inari.
You’ll pass through many many Shinto gates and explore many small shrines and from the middle of the mountain, you can overlook the Fushimi area and furthermore Osaka City if you’re lucky!
Particularly in this month, a unique ritual is held on June 10th at Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine.
This is an annual event for a rich harvest of rice this year called Taue-sai Rice planting Festival. Women in the Heian costume dedicate the dance to God (13:00~) and plant the rice seedling in the traditional music of Japanese flute and harp (14:00~).
Also, GTK would like to recommend to try the east course of Kyoto Circuit Trail, which starts from this shrine.
