Arts & Performances

Kyoto is a birth place of traditional arts, crafts and performances of Japan,
and has been maintaining its tradition with the coming of the new age.
Here GTK'd like to introduce the monthly art highlights, museums, creators etc.

The Kanze Family Exhibition

This exhibition introduces the history and treasures of Noh tradition by the biggest Noh school; Kanze family.
Kanami, a proponent of Noh, and his son, Zeami, were patronized by the famous shogun, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in the Muromachi era. (16th century)
Noh was appreciated as a high ranked art and its costumes and accessories became gorgeous under the shogun’s patronage.
Beautiful costumes, Noh masks, hanging scrolls on which the shogun was drawn and other treasures are being displayed in this exhibition.
